Press Release

Date: Nov. 9, 2017
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Veterans

Ahead of Veterans Day tomorrow, U.S. Senator Cory Booker today released a comprehensive resource guide for the hundreds of thousands of veterans who call New Jersey home. The handbook, available online here, is designed to help New Jersey veterans with the transition from military to civilian life. It includes information on health benefits, workforce centers, employment opportunities, crisis support resources, and federal and state education programs.

"Veterans Day is a time for our nation to unite in honoring and remembering those who have answered our nation's call to service in the Armed Forces," Senator Booker said. "From the Revolutionary War, to Iraq and Afghanistan, generations of Americans have selflessly volunteered to defend the United States and all that we hold dear.

"As a nation, we have no more sacred duty than providing those whom our nation sends into harm's way with the care and support they've earned when they return home. This handbook can help veterans navigate their transition and access critical services. After 16 years of war, today's veterans face many unique challenges when returning to their communities. We all share a responsibility to ensure that our veterans are empowered for success as civilians, just as they were successful members of the Armed Forces.

"Improving the prospects for veterans improves the lives of all New Jerseyans, because veterans are the backbone of our communities and possess unique insights and skills that improve our country."
